What is Sonication?

Sonication is a process that uses high-frequency sound waves to create mechanical vibrations in a liquid or solid. In liquids, these vibrations generate small, localized bubbles called cavitation bubbles, which expand and contract rapidly before collapsing violently. The collapse of these bubbles generates intense heat and pressure that can cause physical and chemical changes in the liquid, such as breaking down solid particles or dispersing them evenly throughout the liquid.

Some products that are made using this process include liposomal formulations in pharmaceuticals for targeted drug delivery, nanoemulsions for food and beverage products, such as salad dressings and energy drinks and ultrasonic cleaners for cleaning delicate equipment and jewelry.
